THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE

A couple of weeks ago, I had a private, friendly conversation with Suni Williams, the female astronaut who recently set all the records in space and returned to earth after months up on our space station. Suni’s mother in law, Jacquelyn Williams, is the director of our Dallas area Meier Clinics. I asked her, “Suni, if you could address the whole world on television for five minutes, what would you say?”

She thought for maybe twenty seconds before answering, “Well, Paul, I would tell them that spending time in space, outside the world, and looking down on it, would give them an entirely different perspective than they have now. From space, the earth is an awesome creation, very beautiful. And it has no boundaries. It is just one big beautiful world. The silly competition of one country over another, or of religious groups killing each other, all seem so ridiculous when looking down from above. And secondly, I would tell them that I was surprised to see how thin earth’s atmosphere is, like a thin blanket protecting earth from burning up. Be sure to take good care of that remaining layer. Quit fighting each other and unite to protect each other and the beautiful earth we live on.”

So that is this week’s challenge.
